WUSS Up!

Posted: 16-FEB-2010

  • Were you ever annoyed by a lack of organization in your lab or your own data / materials?
  • Are you again behind in your lab notebook?
  • Did you ever wonder how other people made those fancy graphs and figures?
  • Did you ever wonder why you are often the last one to find a paper that is important for your own work? Or maybe you do find the papers when they come out, but never manage to find them when you need them?
  • Do you have to do the same analysis over and over again and just wished there would be a program that can do that for you? ...well, maybe there is!

We believe that there are a lot of web utilities and software tools out there that may help significantly with these and other problems of a PhD student's life. But we also realized that in many cases we just found such tools by chance or maybe because a friend told us about them. Also, the vast number of tools and databases is just so overwhelming that often one doesn't know where to start and then just feels too lazy to get into any of them. In order to share such little or big helpers and make it easy to get into them, we have founded

WUSS - the Web Utilties and Software Seminar.
